Missione a Bruxelles di Virginia Gamba, rappresentante ONU su infanzia e conflitti

9 apr - What:  The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Ms. Virginia Gamba, will be visiting Brussels on 10-12 April 2019 to launch the campaign ACT to Protect Children Affected by Conflict and to discuss the importance of protecting children from all six grave violations and of supporting the reintegration of children released from armed groups and armed forces.

Ms. Virginia Gamba will be available for one-on-one interviews.

Note to editors:

The Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict gathers information and reports on how and where children are affected by armed conflict. Parties who commit grave violations against children in any of the 20 conflict situations on her agenda are added to the annexes of the Secretary-General Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict.

The six grave violations against children are: the recruitment and use of children; the killing and maiming of children; rape and other forms of sexual violence; abduction of children; attack on schools and hospitals; and the denial of humanitarian access.

With grave violations against children on the rise The ACT to Protect Children Affect by Conflict is a global advocacy campaign to generate more support and action to protect children affected by war, to bring the voices of children to the international arena and ultimately to end and prevent the six grave violations.

Where: UNRIC, 155 Rue de la Loi, 1040, Brussels

When:  Thursday 11 April 2019 between 14.30-16.00hrs
