Sunday, 13 May

 There are no events scheduled for today.

Monday, 14 May

 The Secretary-General will be in Vienna, Austria, for consultations with the Austrian Government, including President Alexander Van der Bellen, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Karin Kneissl, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs. He will also visit the Vienna International Center, where he will address the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. He will also hold a townhall meeting with UN staff working in Vienna.

The Security Council is expected to adopt a resolution on the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA). It will also be briefed on the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).

In the afternoon, the Security Council will brief on its most recent mission.

At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 7, there will be a briefing on the organization of the Youth Dialogue (30 May) and the high-level event on “Financing for SDGs– Breaking the Bottlenecks of Investments, from Policy to Impact” organized by the Office of the President of the General Assembly.

In Geneva, at 10.30 a.m. in Press Room 1, the International Labour Organization (ILO/OIT) will hold a press Conference under embargo (20:00 GMT, 22:00 Geneva time) on the launch of the report: “World Employment and Social outlook 2018 - Greening with Jobs.” The speakers will be Deborah Greenfield, ILO Deputy Director-General for Policy and Catherine Saget, Lead author of the report.

Tuesday, 15 May

 Today is International Day of Families.

In Vienna, the Secretary-General will deliver a keynote address during the R20 Austrian World Summit, an annual event on sustainable development organized by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Secretary-General is also expected to have bilateral meetings with other senior leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

At 1:15 p.m.  in Conference Room 6, there will be a panel discussion entitled “Families and inclusive societies” in observance of the International Day of Families, organized by the Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

 Wednesday, 16 May

In Brussels, the Secretary-General is expected to meet with EU Council President Donald Tusk, EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, Federica Mogherini, as well as other EU officials. The Secretary-General will also meet with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel.

Today is the International Day of Living Together in Peace.

 In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on the Middle East (Syria).

At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 9, there will be an informal briefing on the preparation of the eleventh session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, co-organized by the Bureau (Bulgaria) (President), Ecuador, Germany, Sri Lanka and Tunisia (Vice-Presidents), in collaboration with the Secretariat (Department of Economic and Social Affairs/Division of Inclusive Social Development, the Office

of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and Office of Legal Affairs).

At 11:00 a.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing by United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) to present the latest urban population estimates and projections: “2018 Revision of World Urbanization Prospects”. Speakers will be Mr. John Wilmoth, Director, Population Division, UN DESA and Mr. François Pelletier, Chief, Population Estimates and Projections Section, Population Division, UN DESA.

 In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS).

At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 6, there will be a presentation and panel discussion entitled “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Families. Results of the Global Research Project” in observance of the International Day of Families, organized by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs/Division of Inclusive Social Development, in collaboration with UNICEF, International Federation for Family Development and SOS Children’s Villages.

Thursday, 17 May

Today is World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

The Secretary-General will be in Washington, D.C. He will have meetings on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and key officials in the US Administration.

In the morning, the Security Council will have an open debate on the maintenance of international peace and security: upholding international law within the context of the maintenance of international peace and security.

At 11:00 a.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) to launch the World Economic and Situation Report as of mid-2018.

 At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 6, there will be a side event by the International Migration Organization (IOM) on Migration Research Leaders Syndicate Dialogue with Stakeholders on the Global Compact for Migration: managing return and reintegration.
