Sunday, 15 April

In Saudi Arabia, the Secretary-General will address the Arab League Summit. He is also expected to meet with His Majesty King Salman and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman. He will also hold bilateral meetings with Arab leaders on the sidelines of the Summit.

Monday, 16 April

Today and until Friday, in the South Wall of the Conference Building First Floor, there will be an art exhibition entitled ‘Awareness’, co-organized by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs and the Permanent Mission of Peru.

In the morning, the Security Council will hold an open debate on women, peace and security: preventing sexual violence in conflict through empowerment, gender equality and access to justice.

At 11:00 a.m., the opening of the 17th session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues will take place in the General Assembly Hall.

At 1:15 p.m., a press conference will be held on indigenous peoples’ collective rights to lands, territories and natural resources, with the Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, the Chair of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, and a high-level representative of the government of Bolivia. 

Also at 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 11, there will be a special event on the Sustainable Development Goals entitled “Inclusive and equitable lifelong learning and the right to education for all, without discrimination” co-organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, UNESCO and UNICEF with the support of the Permanent Missions of Bulgaria, Ecuador, Mongolia and Norway.

At 3:00 p.m., in S-237, there will be a briefing by Ms. Catherine Marchi-Uhel, Head of the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) for the Crimes Committed in Syria, established pursuant to resolution A/RES/71/248, and H.E. Mr. Christian Wenaweser, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein to the United Nations. They will brief reporters ahead of the first informal debate on the IIIM.

Tuesday, 17 April

In Riyadh, the Secretary-General, he will attend the 16th meeting of the United Nations Counter Terrorism Centre Advisory Board, where he will deliver remarks at the opening session of the meeting. The Secretary-General will be accompanied by Vladimir Voronkov, Under Secretary-General of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office.

In New York in the morning, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on the Middle East (Yemen).

The guest at the Noon Briefing will be Ms. Ursula Mueller, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator.

In the afternoon, the Security Council will hold consultations on the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).

At 6:00 p.m. there will be an official inauguration for the ‘Awareness’ exhibit in the South Wall of the Conference Building First Floor.

Wednesday, 18 April

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

At 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room 11, there will be an event on ‘Preventing Tomorrow’s Conflicts: A Speaker Series within the context of the United Nations discussions on Sustaining Peace’ co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Australia and the United Nations University.

Thursday, 19 April

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on Colombia.

At 11:00 a.m., a press conference on indigenous women defending human rights will take pace.

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).

At 4:00 p.m. in Conference Room 2, there will be an event entitled “Youth Power the Planet: an SDG Activate Talk to Celebrate Earth Day” on the occasion of International Mother Earth Day (22 April) co-organized by UNICEF and the Permanent Mission of India.

Friday, 20 April
