Saturday, 7 April

Today is the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and World Health Day. It is also the 70th anniversary of the World Health Organization.

The Secretary-General is in China for a state visit. In Beijing, he will meet with the President of China, Xi Jinping, as well as with Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the [Chinese Communist Party] Central Committee; Wang Yi, State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council.

The Secretary-General will also visit a peacekeeping training centre in Beijing.  He will then travel to Boao, Hainan Province, to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2018, where he will deliver remarks at the opening ceremony of the Forum.

Sunday, 8 April

In China, the Secretary-General will speak at the Boao Forum in Hainan Province.

Monday, 9 April

Also at 10:00 a.m., in the Economic and Social Council Chamber, there will be a high-level event on “Crime Prevention and Sustainable Development through Sports” co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Colombia, Italy, Monaco, Qatar and Rwanda and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

In Vienna, at 9:00 a.m. in Room M1 of the Vienna International Centre, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will launch Global Judicial Integrity Network, in the presence of Chief Justices, judges and judicial professionals from around the world.

Tuesday, 10 April

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on the Great Lakes Region.

At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 9, the Group of Friends of the International Criminal Court (ICC) will hold a Meeting with the ICC Registrar and the ICC Registrar-elect. The event is organized by the Permanent Mission of Brazil.

Wednesday, 11 April

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and Mali sanctions.

At 10:30 a.m. in Conference Room 1, the Department of Public Information will host a multimedia event titled ‘Second Generation – Things I Didn’t Tell My Father’, with Israeli cartoonist and illustrator Michel Kichka as the keynote speaker. Michel Kichka will share his personal story as the son of a Holocaust survivor and describe the creative process which led him to write and draw his graphic novel of the same name. Also at 10:30 a.m. in Conference Room 10, there will be a briefing on “Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies: What they are and Potential Applications for the United Nations” co-organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the United
Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT)

Thursday, 12 April

Today is the International Day of Human Space Flight.

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on the 1540 Committee.

At 10:00 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall there will be a meeting on 'Improving global road safety: note by the Secretary-General.'

At 11:00 am, there will be a press briefing on the launch of Amnesty International’s annual report on Death Sentences and Executions 2017. This briefing is sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Chile to the United Nations.

The guest at the Noon Briefing will be Mr. Jean Todt, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety.

Friday, 13 April

At 10:00 a.m. the Department of Economic and Social Affairs is releasing its third annual report on financing for development. This report, which was mandated by the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, takes stock of the progress countries, financial institutions and other relevant parties are making toward financing the SDGs. The report notes gaps, makes recommendations on how to mobilize resources and suggests policy frameworks necessary to achieve sustainable development.

At 3 p.m. in the General Assembly Hall, the Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly, the Permanent Representative of Rwanda, the Permanent Representative of Mali (on behalf of the African Group) and a survivor will participate in the annual commemoration of the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
