Monday, 5 March

At 10 a.m., Member States will hear a joint briefing by the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly on “Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace” in the Trusteeship Council Chamber.

At 10 a.m., the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will hear briefings in the ECOSOC Chamber by the Chair-designate (Ireland) on preparations for the next session and by the facilitator, Vice-Chair (Bangladesh), on the draft resolution on the year 2020.

Michael Bloomberg in his capacity as Special Envoy on Climate Change and Cities will be at UN Headquarters to meet with the Secretary-General around 1 p.m.

Tuesday, 6 March

In the morning, the Security Council is expected to hold a meeting of the Troop Contributing Countries to the UN Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), followed in the afternoon by a meeting of the TCCs to the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

In Conference Room A, at 10 a.m., there will be a workshop entitled “The Empowerment of Rural Women and Girls and the Implications for Agricultural Sustainability, Food Security and Nutrition”, organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

At 10 a.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing entitled, “A Credible List, Watchlist’s Recommendations for the Secretary-General’s 2018 Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict”. This briefing is sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Canada.

In Conference Room 3, at 1.15 p.m., there will be a briefing by the World Health Organization (WHO) on "Promoting Innovation and Access to Medicines".

At 6 p.m., the Secretary-General will participate in a signing ceremony of the New Maritime Boundary Agreement between Timor Leste and Australia, in the Kuwait Boat Area of the General Assembly building.

In Geneva, the Independent Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic will launch its report covering the period from July 2017 to end January 2018, with an update on recent events related to the human rights situation in the country and a particular focus on the urgent need for accountability. Speakers will be Mr. Paulo Pinheiro, Chairperson, and Ms. Karen Abuzayd and Mr. Hanny Megally, members of the Commission.

Wednesday, 7 March

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on MONUSCO.

Thursday, 8 March

Today is International Women’s Day.

At 10 a.m., the Secretary-General will address the Annual Official Commemoration of International Women’s Day in the Trusteeship Council Chamber.

At 1.15 p.m., there will be an event entitled “Gender Issues in the Professional Work Place”, with the participation of the Senior Adviser of the Secretary-General on Policy, in Conference Room 7.

At the Security Council, in the morning, there will be a debate on the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed by the Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

In Geneva, the International Trade Centre (ITC) and Maersk organize the premiere of the film "SheTrades". There will be a panel on women entrepreneurship followed by a cocktail.

Friday, 9 March

The guest at the Noon Briefing will be Ms. Pramila Patten, Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict. She will brief reporters on her recent trip to Iraq and Sudan.
