Alliance of Civilizations – new website
The Alliance of Civilizations, a UN initiative to combat extremism and improve relations between predominantly Muslim and Western societies, has launched its new Web site, which provides an overview of the initiative's goals, the membership of the High-level Group of eminent persons, analysis and outreach activities, and information about related endeavors. Newly established in November 2005 by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and co-sponsored by the Prime Ministers of Spain and Turkey, the Alliance of Civilizations seeks to forge collective political will and to mobilize concerted action at all levels to overcome extremism, with an aim to overcome prejudice, misperceptions and polarization by encouraging a global movement which rejects extremism in any society and reflects the will of the vast majority of people.

New website for United Nations press releases and meetings coverage summaries
The new site consolidates and improves access to coverage of intergovernmental meetings, some while still in progress; statements by the Secretary-General; transcripts of the Spokesman’s noon briefing; summaries of press conferences; and other United Nations press releases. It also provides search functions for these various resources, dating back to October 1995, as well as links to various news- and media-related sites at United Nations Headquarters and overseas Offices. It is managed by the Department of Public Information’s Meetings Coverage Section.
Mandate Review Report
On 30 March 2006, the Secretary-General presented a report on the review of UN mandates to the General Assembly. The report responds to the World Summit 2005 resolution (A/RES/60/1) to "review all mandates older than five years originating from resolutions of the General Assembly and other organs" (A/60/733). A searchable Mandate Review Registry is also available online. The database is searchable by organ, issue area, status and keyword. Also available is an online tutorial and a section of Frequently Asked Questions.

This website provides access to Food Security related information and resources produced by the EC-FAO Food Security Information for Action Programme. Its overall purpose is to enhance national capacity to use food security information from different sectors and sources for more effective anti-hunger policies and programmes. The Programme is funded by the European Commission (EC) and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). It is coordinated by FAO's Agricultural and Development Economics Division.

Global Monitoring Report 2006: Strengthening Mutual Accountability - Aid, Trade & Governance
The third annual Global Monitoring Report on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), subtitled Strengthening Mutual Accountability – Aid, Trade and Governance was published on April 20, 2006, by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. It highlights economic growth, better quality aid, and trade reforms, as well as governance as essential elements to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

Green TV (new Environmental Webcast is launched)
The UN Environment Programme announced the launch of what they called the world’s first broadband TV channel dedicated to environmental issues. green.tv is also being podcast on iTunes and carries an RSS feed. It will carry films from around the world produced by leading environmental organizations, community filmmakers, public sector bodies, companies with an interest in protecting the environment and many more.

The report highlights the worldwide achievements and the significant role that sport can play in accelerating progress towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.
Progress on Global Access to HIV Antiretroviral Therapy: A Report on 3 by 5 and Beyond (WHO & UNAIDS report)
The report shows that the number of people on HIV antiretroviral treatment (ART) in low- and middle-income countries more than tripled to 1.3 million in December 2005 from 400 000 in December 2003. It also says that the lessons learned in the last two years provide a foundation for global efforts now underway to provide universal access to HIV treatment by 2010.

The report sets out more than 50 recommendations for countries to consider to ensure that poor people in developing countries have access to essential medical technologies — especially products to diagnose, prevent and treat the diseases which affect them most.
Trade and Environment Review 2006 (UNCTAD report)
This report focuses on turning environment barriers into opportunities. The report recommends developing countries take a proactive approach to deal with trade regulations on environmental health-related concerns, and focuses on two sectors: electrical and electronic equipment and organic agricultural products.
