The United Nations Presents: Under the Wire

On 8 March, United Nations Cinema will be screening ‘Under the Wire’ in London at the British Museum to mark International Women’s Day.

under the wire RECENT

On 13 February 2012 war-correspondent Marie Colvin and photographer Paul Conroy entered war-ravaged Syria to cover the plight of civilians trapped in the besieged Homs, under attack by the Syrian army. Only one of them returned. Based on Conroy’s book Under the Wire, the film is a gripping account of the triumph of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity.

The screening is organised in partnership with The British Museum, and will be followed by a conversation with guest speakers: Chris Martin, Director of the film; Paul Conroy, Under The Wire photojournalist; Jackie Harrison, UNESCO Chair on Media Freedom, Journalism Safety and the Issue of Impunity; moderated by Deborah Seward (UNRIC).
