Drug, Alcohol, Women network created in Rome, Italy

UNICRI logoThe United Nations and the Department for Anti-drug Policy in Rome launch the First Conference

Gender differences, women and addiction to drugs and alcohol will be the theme of the Conference to be held in Rome at the FAO from 2 to 4 March 2011.

This conference will mark the start of a major program of action supported by the Italian Department for Anti-drug Policies in collaboration with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).


Cyprus: Major General Chao Liu of China Assumes Responsibility as UNFICYP Force Commander

UNFICYP logoNicosia, 25 February 2011 -- Major General Chao Liu of China officially assumed his duties as Force Commander of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) today at a brief ceremony held in the United Nations Protected Area in Nicosia.   

Acting Force Commander, Colonel Gerard Hughes, officially transferred duties and responsibilities to Major General Liu who succeeds Rear Admiral Mario Sánchez Debernardi of Peru who served as UNFICYP Force Commander from April 2008 to December 2010.
