VISIT OF THE MALTA-GERMANY PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP TO GERMANY

A delegation from the Maltese House of Representatives, led by the Hon Michael Asciak MP, and accompanied by the Hon Clyde Puli, the Hon Carmelo Abela and the Hon Joseph Cuschieri will be visiting Germany between the 9th and 14th September 2007 upon the invitation of the Chairman of the German-Maltese Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Ernst-Reinhard Beck, MdB. Throughout the various discussions held, the delegation shall seek to strengthen relations between the Maltese Parliament and the German Federal Parliament as well as to enhance trade cooperation, tourism, education and other issues of bilateral interest.


In Berlin, the delegation shall meet, amongst others, the Chairman of the Committee for Education, Research and Technology Assessment, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Chairman of the EU Affairs Committee as well as the Chairman of the Committee of Home Affairs. A meeting shall also be held with the Chairman and Members of the Committee for Tourism as well as with the Members of the Committee for Transport, Building Construction and Urban Development. The delegation is also set to meet the CEO of the Fraunhofer Group Information and Communication Technology to discuss the Euro-Mediterranean Initiative for Technology and Innovation (EuroMedITI). Another important meeting shall also be held with the Chairman and Members of the German-Maltese Parliamentary Group whereby the German Maltese relations and perspective work of the two groups will be discussed.


The delegation will also be visiting and meeting the President of the Landtag Brandenburg Parliament, Mr. Gunter Fritsch, MdL.
