This electronic newsletter, free of charge and quarterly send by e-mail, is intended to: - Provide a regular overview of the web-based information on biosphere reserve activities and MAB achievements, - Enhance the visibility and facilitate access to project results, events, publications, contacts, - Facilitate scientific and technical co-operation within the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, - Promote the use of biosphere reserves as tools for integrating conservation and development by managers and policy-makers.

In October 2002, the Natural Sciences Sector of UNESCO launched a quarterly newsletter as part of a new communication strategy 'to keep UNESCO's concerns in the public eye and at the centre of public debate by making information easily available and attractive reading'.
