World Refugee Day 2013, has officially been launched by UNHCR with the 1 Family Campaign. International celebrities have lined up to support refugees against a backdrop of massive concurrent refugee emergencies in Syria, Mali, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of the Congo. The "1 family" campaign reminds audiences that the casualties of war are mothers, fathers, sons and daughters - families. The campaign calls on the world to remember 1 family torn apart by war is too many. Information on the global campaign can be viewed here.
UNHCR Ireland is launching a book initiative for people to do 1 thing to mark World Refugee Day 2013. The initiative again reminds people that 1 family torn apart by war is too many. Libraries throughout the country will feature display tables and offer a selection of refugee related titles and information on refugees and the work of UNHCR.
