Preparations under way for the Big IF rally on 8 June

wfp

Next week thousands of people will gather in London for a momentous event as part of the IF campaign.

They will come together to demand an end to the scandal of hunger that still sees one in eight people going without enough food and send a message to David Cameron and other world leaders gathering in Northern Ireland for the G8 meeting that they should use this opportunity to change the lives of millions of children.

This year UNICEF-UK is part of the Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign, joining over 170 other charities, including Oxfam, Save the Children and ActionAid to fix the broken food system. We want a world where every child has enough to eat.

UNICEF-UK has been one of the key organisers of the rally and expects to see many supporters and well-wishers at the event, which will include high-profile speakers such as philanthropist Bill Gates, former Archbishop of Canterbury and Chair of Christian Aid Rowan Williams and broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky. Attendees will help create a huge visual petition to demonstrate the scale of public support for the IF campaign, made up of 250,000 spinning flowers, with a total of two million petals representing the two million children who die because of hunger each year.

The Big IF will take place on Saturday 8 June, 2-5pm in Hyde Park. For more information please visit UNICEF-UK website.
