With World Humanitarian Day just two days away why not challenge yourself with an interactive humanitarian game? Inside the Haiti Earthquake is a first-person simulation based on documentary footage from Haiti and real-life decision scenarios. Would you have made it as an earthquake survivor, aid worker, or journalist in Haiti after the earthquake?
Produced by PTV Productions and funded by the Canadian International Development Agency. The simulation asks what decisions you would take after the earthquake?
Inside the Haiti Earthquake is a web-based simulation that allows users to experience the quake’s aftermath from the point of view of an aid worker, survivor, or journalist. Inside the Haiti Earthquake draws on footage and real-life stories from the three-part Inside Disaster documentary series. Co-director, cinematographer and composer Nicolas Jolliet travelled to Haiti in January and August 2010 to capture original footage, photos and music for the project.
The United Nations too has sought to capitalise on the popularity of video games to educate and raise awareness about the work of the organization. Learn how to plan and save a village from a tsunami or cyclone. Or step into the shoes of an earthquake survivor or refugee. You can even donate rice by answering simple questions. (Learn more...)
