In February 2011 Disney’s “High School Musical” Star, TV host and first ever United Nations Youth Champion for the International Year of Youth, Monique Coleman, embarked on a world tour to give voice to young people, raise awareness about some of the most serious challenges they face and highlight the positive contributions they make in their communities. From 13 to 15 April, Monique Coleman is on a three day trip to Greece at the invitation of the UNESCO Youth Club of Thessaloniki.
During her visit to Greece, the first stop of her European tour, she is conducting a series of youth events in Thessaloniki and Athens such as school visits and a visit to the children’s hospital “Elpida.” Monique will also have meetings with government and local administration officials, with representatives of different groups of youth volunteers and with UNESCO Good Will Ambassador Mrs. Marianna Vardinoyannis.
According to Coleman, the purpose of the world tour is to see, and share, through social media what young people all over the planet are experiencing and to connect people in the developing and developed worlds. “My hope is to inspire, motivate, and empower young people to become involved and to highlight the amazing achievements of youth across the globe”, Coleman says.
The European tour will continue in June, if you wish to see the exact dates of the world tour please visit GIMME MO Tour Dates.
