Petitions Committee of the German Parliament - Petitionsausschuss des Deutschen Bundestages

The German parliament’s Petitions Committee performs also the role of the ombudsman and considers all types of petitions - request or proposals - submitted by citizens. If it is signed by more than 50,000 citizens, the Petitions Committee must engage with the petition in a public hearing. The right to petition is regulated by Article 17º of the Fundamental law (Grundgesetz Artikel 17).
