To help promote a series of UN International Days, prestigious European design schools and academies produce short videos part of a partnership between UNRIC and Fabrica, the Benetton research centre on communication.
The schools belong to a network established by Fabrica to promote youth creativity. Video content produced by the students is promoted by the UN and showcased on Benetton storefront Live Windows.

Since February 2011, Fabrica has collaborated with major art and design universities and academies to promote youth creativity. Throughout the year students produce content on local and international issues. Selected content is then shown on Live Windows, ensuring that students, their schools and the issue being covered, receive high levels of visibility.
Currently Fabrica cooperate with institutions such as London Metropolitan University and Central Saint Martins in London, IED and Elisava in Barcelona, Mediadesign Hochschule and Macromedia Hochschule für Medien und Kommunikation in Munich, British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow, Parsons Paris and Ecole de Communication Visuelle in Paris, to mention just a few.
Among other, students are given the opportunity to develop creative content in the fields of graphic animation, video and interactive applications. They are offered greater visibility through the Live Windows, located in international and fashionable settings such as Brompton Road in London, Tvserskaja Ulitsa in Moscow, Piazza Duomo in Milan, Portal de l’Angel in Barcelona etc. The visuals always credit the author and the educational institution where he/she is studying.
More than 100 creative submissions from students have so far been selected for publication on the Live Windows (about a third of the total received).
Live Windows is a project conceived and developed by Alfio Pozzoni, research and innovation director at Fabrica.
Live Windows is an experience design research project applied to front store communications. Positive experiences live longer and are more likely to be shared and remembered. Fabrica believe in good mood; their goal is to entertain people on the street. Fun and body movement are the key to a more intense experience.
The user becomes the protagonist of the place. This is a show-like experience with actors, stage and audience. Opposite the store windows an audience gathers on the street, sharing the fun and enjoying the show.
Size matters! The size of the media-wall is essential for a richer experience and a deeper visual impact. Fabrica’s media-walls are the size of the store windows, often as large as 6 x 3 metres.
Live Windows have already been implemented in major flagship stores in Milan, Barcelona, Munich, London, Paris, Shanghai, Moscow and New Delhi, among others.
