Press conference UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women: 'tackling gender-based violence - international perspectives'

EBS Live Press ConferenceRepresentatives from the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) and the United Nations have called on all 27 member states of the European Union – and the EU itself – to sign up to the groundbreaking new Council of Europe Convention on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
 
During the press conference,  Ms Manjoo said “I think that the European Convention on Violence against Women reflects many of the norms and standards that have been articulated within the UN system on the issue of violence against women as a human rights issue.” It deserves the full support of the European Union and all its member states.
 
The Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence was opened for signature last month.
