On the occasion of International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust - Ciné-ONU invites you to the screening of
"The Last Flight of Petr Ginz"
Wednesday, 25 January - 6:30pm
Goethe Institute Brussels.
This is the story of Petr Ginz, a Czech Jewish child prodigy who at age 14 was sent to Tereizenstadt and later to Auschwitz. By age14, he had written five novels and a diary about the Nazi occupation of Prague. By age 16, he had produced 120 drawings and paintings, edited an underground magazine in the Theresienstadt Ghetto, and written numerous short stories. Much of Petr’s story was unknown until the 2003 Columbia space shuttle tragedy. Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon, a member of the mission, had carried with him Petr’s drawing, “Moon Landscape”. The publicity surrounding the flight and its explosion led to the discovery of Petr’s diary and additional artwork and short stories in a Prague attic.
The film will be followed by a Q&A with:
Regina Sluszny (Vice President of The Hidden Child)
Marie-Paule Roudil (Head of the UNESCO Office in Brussels)
The film is in English and has a runtime of 65 mins.
