The United Nations University (UNU) Jargon Buster is a glossary of social, political and economic terms: an offline app with instant search and filtered browsing. Available for free on Android and iOS, it features 200 terms with definitions, all cross-referenced with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), plus 250 UN acronyms.


Big Data for Development and Humanitarian Action:Towards Responsible Governance


On October 23, 2015 Global Pulse & Leiden University will host an international expert meeting on “Big Data for Development and Humanitarian Action:Towards Responsible Governance” to be held on the margins of Privacy Week in Amsterdam. It is also being organised as part of the annual meeting of the UN Global Pulse Data Privacy Advisory Group.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, the UN Department of Public Information and the Gabarron Foundation have created an exhibition called “UNEARTH” which features some of the most powerful photographs in the Organization’s vast iconic archives. A host of UN officials, goodwill ambassadors, intellectuals, artists, journalists and historians have delved into the United Nations archive in order to present the audience with the past, present and future of this unique and vital institution.
