"MyWorldWeather" is the mobile version of the World Weather Information Service (WWIS) website. It is the world's first ever location-specific weather service providing official city weather forecasts under the auspices of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) of the United Nations for people on the move.
"MyWorldWeather" is developed by the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) on behalf of the WMO. Equipped with location-based technology, the application detects the location where the user is located and to provide users with official city weather forecast automatically. It provides a quick search function at the same time which allows users obtaining latest official weather information of over 1,400 cities around the world. Users can also create bookmark for easy access in the future.
The World Weather Information Service (WWIS) website (http://worldweather.wmo.int) is the first and the only one global website presenting OFFICIAL weather observations, weather forecasts and climatological information for selected cities provided by National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) worldwide. WWIS aims to provide authoritative and reliable weather information of NMHSs around the world to all internet users and media. The WWIS website was developed and maintained by the HKO on behalf of the WMO. By mid-2011, around 130 members supply official weather forecasts for over 1,400 cities on the WWIS. By August 2011, the cumulative total number of page visits to WWIS reached 900 million.
