Serious food and energy shortages, climate change, terrorism, nuclear threats, unrestrained globalization, the collapse of the international financial system… The modern ills of the planet, most of which are the result of our errors and neglect, threaten the very existence of future generations. Every nation in the world is affected, and even the superpowers have been shaken. It is time for a concerted effort on a universal scale. What better forum is there than the United Nations to have this essential dialogue? Through three major themes – Peace, Development and Human Rights – the whole UN System and its actions are highlighted.
